Is Spring Hill, TN safe? I don't put a safety label on any town, so here's what I'd hand a client across the table instead: the numbers the Spring Hill Police Department reports to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), TBI's own crime rate for the city, and how to check which agency covers the exact house you're looking at.

Is Spring Hill, TN safe? The official numbers as of October 2026

TBI's Crime in Tennessee 2025 report lists 1,203 Group A offenses for the Spring Hill Police Department in 2025. TBI publishes that as 1,952.4 Group A crimes per 100,000 people, using its 2025 population estimate of 61,615 for the department.

Within those, the Spring Hill Police Department reported 3 murders, 15 non-consensual sex offenses, 74 aggravated assaults, 1 robbery, 26 burglaries, 16 motor vehicle thefts and 199 fraud offenses to TBI for 2025. Homes with a Spring Hill address outside city limits are covered by the Williamson County or Maury County Sheriff's Office instead.

What is the crime rate in Spring Hill, TN?

TBI's published 2025 rate for the Spring Hill Police Department is 1,952.4 Group A crimes per 100,000 people. The statewide figure in the same report is 5,848.2 per 100,000, on a population estimate of 7,337,623.

Group A is TBI's broad offense list. It includes assault, burglary, fraud, larceny and theft, vandalism, motor vehicle theft and drug violations, along with the violent crimes in the tables below. Spring Hill's 1,203 Group A offenses include 124 shoplifting offenses, 142 drug and narcotic violations and 83 vandalism offenses.

TBI's director writes in the report that "we strongly discourage ranking of law enforcement agencies according to the statistics." TBI's reasoning is that many factors outside a police department's control affect crime. I'd read the rate as one number to look up, and I wouldn't rank towns with it.

Where do official Spring Hill crime numbers come from?

Every law enforcement agency in Tennessee is required by state law to report crime statistics to TBI each month. They report through the Tennessee Incident Based Reporting System, called TIBRS, and TBI reviews the data for accuracy before it's published.

TBI publishes it in two places:

  1. Crime Insight, a free public dashboard at crimeinsight.tbi.tn.gov. You can pick an agency, a year and a theme like violent crime or property crime.
  2. Crime in Tennessee, TBI's annual report, on TBI's recent publications page. The 2025 edition is dated August 31, 2026 and uses a snapshot of the data as of July 31, 2026.

TBI says that as agencies update their 2025 data, the changes show up on Crime Insight. So the dashboard can drift from the printed report over time. As of October 22, 2026, the Spring Hill counts in both matched.

Two counting rules from TBI matter when you read the tables. For violent crime, TBI counts one offense for each victim. For property crime, it counts one offense for each incident, except motor vehicle theft, where each stolen vehicle counts as one.

What did the Spring Hill Police Department report for 2025?

As of October 2026, these are TBI's Crime Insight figures for the Spring Hill Police Department.

Offense 2025 2024 Change TBI shows
Murder 3 0 not calculated (zero in 2024)
Sex offenses, non-consensual 15 10 up 50.00%
Aggravated assault 74 86 down 13.95%
Robbery 1 4 down 75.00%
Burglary 26 33 down 21.21%
Motor vehicle theft 16 21 down 23.81%
Fraud 199 240 down 17.08%

Small numbers swing hard in percentage terms. Robbery going from 4 to 1 is a 75% drop, and that's three cases. Read the count first, then the percentage.

Crime Insight's property crime theme shows robbery, burglary, motor vehicle theft and fraud. The Spring Hill Police Department page in TBI's Crime in Tennessee report lists every Group A offense, including each type of theft and vandalism.

How do Spring Hill's numbers compare with Tennessee's?

Raw counts for one city and a whole state don't compare, so this table puts two things side by side that do: the change from 2024 to 2025, and the percent of cases cleared. TBI reports a cleared percentage for each offense, which is the share of reported offenses the agency cleared. For a per-person comparison, use the rates above.

Offense Spring Hill PD, change 2024 to 2025 Tennessee, change 2024 to 2025 Spring Hill PD cleared, 2025 Tennessee cleared, 2025
Murder 0 to 3 down 18.07% (592 to 485) 66.67% 56.49%
Sex offenses, non-consensual up 50.00% (10 to 15) down 6.96% (5,833 to 5,427) 40% 28.65%
Aggravated assault down 13.95% (86 to 74) down 15.86% (36,330 to 30,569) 86.49% 48.67%
Robbery down 75.00% (4 to 1) down 28.70% (4,328 to 3,086) 0% 24.76%
Burglary down 21.21% (33 to 26) down 17.22% (17,976 to 14,880) 38.46% 20.36%
Motor vehicle theft down 23.81% (21 to 16) down 31.63% (25,103 to 17,163) 31.25% 15.31%
Fraud down 17.08% (240 to 199) down 4.10% (28,992 to 27,804) 24.62% 18.46%

Source for every figure: TBI Crime Insight, 2025 and 2024, read October 22, 2026.

Statewide, all seven of these categories were down from 2024. For the Spring Hill Police Department, five were down, and murder and non-consensual sex offenses were up.

For national figures, the FBI publishes its own on the Crime Data Explorer at cde.ucr.cjis.gov. I'd keep each comparison inside one source.

Who covers a home with a Spring Hill address outside city limits?

Inside Spring Hill city limits, it's the Spring Hill Police Department. Outside city limits, it's generally the county sheriff: the Maury County Sheriff's Office on the Maury side and the Williamson County Sheriff's Office on the Williamson side.

The City of Spring Hill sits in both Williamson County and Maury County, and the police department serves the city on both sides of the county line. A mailing address doesn't settle which agency covers a house, because mailing addresses and city limits don't always line up. Check the city limits directly.

Each sheriff's office covers the unincorporated land in its whole county, which is far bigger than the Spring Hill area. Their figures are on Crime Insight too. Choose Maury County Sheriff's Office or Williamson County Sheriff's Office as the agency.

How do I check a specific Spring Hill address?

Start by finding out which agency covers it. Confirm which county the address is in and whether it's inside Spring Hill city limits. The county property assessor's record shows the county. My Williamson vs Maury County guide shows how the county line runs through town.

Then go to the source for that agency:

  1. Crime Insight at crimeinsight.tbi.tn.gov. Choose Spring Hill Police Department, Maury County Sheriff's Office or Williamson County Sheriff's Office, then a year and a theme.
  2. The Spring Hill Police Department, 800 Hathaway Blvd., Spring Hill, TN 37174, main line 931-451-0890. For an emergency, call 911.
  3. Spring Hill police records, such as incident reports and accident reports, through the department's online public records portal at springhilltn.justfoia.com/publicportal, or in person at the department.
  4. Recorded 911 calls and dispatch records, through the Williamson County Emergency Communications Department. It dispatches police, fire and EMS for all of Spring Hill, on both the Maury and Williamson County sides, and the Spring Hill Police Department says it isn't the keeper of those records.
  5. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office, 408 Century Court, Franklin, TN 37064, main line 615-790-5560, non-emergency 615-790-5550, for homes in unincorporated Williamson County.
  6. The Maury County Sheriff's Office on Lawson White Drive in Columbia, 931-380-5733, for homes in unincorporated Maury County.
