Quick answer (as of November 2026) Nashville doesn't have one zip code. The U.S. Postal Service lists 39 ZIP codes under the city name Nashville, TN: 23 that deliver to street addresses, 7 for PO Boxes and 9 for specific organizations. Downtown Nashville is 37201, 37219 and 37203. East Nashville is mostly 37206. Seven more ZIPs with their own mailing names, including Antioch 37013, Hermitage 37076, Madison 37115 and Old Hickory 37138, also cover large parts of Metro Nashville. A ZIP isn't a city limit, and several of these cross county lines.
You found a house you like in Nashville, and the listing gives you a ZIP code. That ZIP tells you where the mail goes. It won't tell you which part of town you're looking at, whether the house is inside Nashville's government or one of the small cities inside the county, or even which county it's in.
I made the move from California to Middle Tennessee myself, and I live in Canterbury in Thompson's Station. On every address a client sends me, I check the county, the city limits and the tax district before we go see it. The table below lists every Nashville ZIP with the areas it covers.
What are the Nashville zip codes?
The Nashville zip codes for street addresses are 37201, 37203 through 37221, 37228, 37232 and 37238, per the U.S. Postal Service as of November 2026. Seven more ZIPs with other mailing names (Antioch, Hermitage, Madison, Old Hickory, Goodlettsville, Joelton and Whites Creek) cover big parts of Davidson County too, and seven ZIPs from neighboring towns reach a little way into it.
Nashville and Davidson County share one government, Metro Nashville. So an address that says Antioch or Madison on the envelope can still be inside Metro Nashville. The table lists every ZIP that delivers to street addresses in Davidson County.

Mailing city and other city names are from the USPS ZIP Code Lookup, November 5, 2026. Areas are Metro Nashville's community names from its Davidson County Communities map, placed in a ZIP by Metro's own ZIP map, plus libraries and landmarks at their published addresses. County shares and land area are from the Census Bureau's 2020 ZIP Code Tabulation Areas. A big neighborhood can cross a ZIP line. Metro's Green Hills label sits in 37204, while the Green Hills library is 37215, and Metro's Edgehill label sits in 37212, while the Edgehill library is 37203.
What is the zip code for downtown Nashville?
Downtown Nashville's main zip codes are 37201, 37219 and 37203. The Historic Metro Courthouse at 1 Public Square is 37201, the Ryman Auditorium and the Main Library on Church Street are 37219, and Bridgestone Arena at 501 Broadway is 37203. 37203 also runs south and west through SoBro, the Gulch and Wedgewood-Houston.
Across the Cumberland River, Nissan Stadium at One Titans Way is 37213. Two very small Nashville ZIPs sit downtown or close to it too: 37238, about 3 acres on the Census map, and 37232, Vanderbilt University Medical Center's ZIP.
What part of Nashville is 37203, 37206 and 37209?
- 37203 is the south and west side of downtown: the Gulch, SoBro, Wedgewood-Houston and the Watkins Park area, with Bridgestone Arena on Broadway and Centennial Park on West End Avenue.
- 37206 is East Nashville. Metro's community map puts East Nashville, Edgefield, Five Points, Lockeland Springs and Rosebank in it, and the East library branch at 206 N. 11th St. is 37206.
- 37209 is west Nashville: Sylvan Park, The Nations, Charlotte Park and Hadley Park, with the Richland Park library on Charlotte Avenue. At about 34 square miles of land it runs well out past those neighborhoods.
- 37201 is the downtown core around the Historic Metro Courthouse, about a third of a square mile.
- 37204 is 12th South, Berry Hill, Waverly-Belmont and part of Green Hills. The Postal Service also recognizes Berry Hill and Melrose as city names in 37204.
What is the zip code for East Nashville?
East Nashville is mostly 37206. Metro's community map puts East Nashville, Edgefield, Five Points, Lockeland Springs and Rosebank all inside 37206. North of it, Inglewood and Maplewood are 37216, and Cleveland Park and McFerrin Park are 37207.
Are Antioch, Hermitage and Madison part of Nashville?
Yes. Antioch, Hermitage, Madison, Old Hickory, Joelton and Whites Creek are mailing names for parts of Metro Nashville, not separate cities. The Census geocoder puts the library branches in Antioch, Hermitage, Madison and Old Hickory inside Nashville-Davidson's limits, in Davidson County.
So a house with a Hermitage 37076 or Madison 37115 address can sit inside Metro Nashville. My guides to Antioch, Hermitage, Madison and Bellevue cover each area.
The reverse happens too. On the Census map, about 7.7 square miles of Brentwood's 37027 sit in Davidson County, most of it inside Nashville-Davidson's limits. One example, as of November 2026: 5501 Hill Rd., Brentwood, TN 37027 geocodes to Davidson County and Nashville-Davidson, not to the City of Brentwood. The Brentwood guide covers the Williamson County side.
Is a Nashville address always inside Nashville?
No. Six small cities with their own governments sit wholly or partly inside Davidson County: Belle Meade, Berry Hill, Forest Hills, Oak Hill, Goodlettsville and Ridgetop, per the Davidson County Assessor of Property. Four of them use Nashville ZIPs.
On the 2020 Census map, about 53% of 37215's land is inside the City of Forest Hills, and about 68% of 37220's land is inside the City of Oak Hill. Belle Meade covers about 2.6 of 37205's 14.3 square miles, and Berry Hill and part of Oak Hill sit in 37204. A "Nashville, TN 37215" address can be a Forest Hills house. My Belle Meade and Berry Hill guides go deeper on two of them.
Do Nashville zip codes cross county lines?
Some do. On the 2020 Census map, 37221 (Bellevue) has about 4 square miles in Williamson County, 37215 has a small edge in Williamson, and 37209 has a sliver in Cheatham. Of the other mailing names, 37076 Hermitage and 37138 Old Hickory reach into Wilson County, 37080 Joelton into Cheatham, and 37072 Goodlettsville into Sumner and Robertson.
The Postal Service doesn't publish ZIP boundaries. The Census Bureau draws its own version from addresses, and the two don't always match. The Ryman's mailing ZIP is 37219 but it sits in 37203 on the Census map, and the airport terminal's mailing ZIP is 37214 but it sits in 37217. So treat any county share on this page as a guide, and check the exact address.
Send me any Nashville address, or a listing link, and I'll tell you the county, whether it's inside Metro Nashville or one of the small cities, and its tax district before you go see it. DM, text or call 615-392-1186.
Does the zip code tell you the tax district?
No. Davidson County has two main tax districts, the General Services District and the Urban Services District, and the line between them doesn't follow ZIP codes. On Metro's own maps, 37013, 37209, 37218 and 37221 each have parts on both sides of that line. The Urban Services District rate covers extra services such as garbage pickup, street lights and sidewalks, per the Davidson County Assessor of Property. In the General Services District, owners pay for those services on their own.
The six small cities are separate tax districts of their own, per the Assessor. Look up any Davidson County parcel on Metro's Parcel Viewer to see which district it's in, and my cost of living in Nashville guide has the current rates.
Property tax figures are the county and city rates published for the year shown and are for planning only. Your actual bill depends on the assessed value, any exemptions and the city or district the home sits in. Confirm with the county assessor or trustee and your tax professional before you rely on a number.
Where can I find a Nashville zip code map?

Metro Nashville publishes an official Davidson County zip code map as a PDF in its online map gallery. It shows every ZIP line in the county, and it's the map I'd use over any third-party version.
Any ZIP map is an outline of mail routes. For one house, an address lookup is more reliable than either Metro's map or the Census map.
How do I check which zip code, county and city a Nashville address is in?
Use these four free checks on any address before you write an offer. This is the order I use.
- Confirm the ZIP and the mailing city on the USPS ZIP Code Lookup.
- Run the address through the U.S. Census geocoder. It names the county, and under "Incorporated Places" it tells you whether the house is in Nashville-Davidson or one of the small cities.
- Look up the parcel on Metro's Parcel Viewer to see its tax district.
- See the house. If you're buying from another state, I'll record a video walkthrough of any home you're serious about and send you an unlisted YouTube link you can rewatch as often as you need.
If you're still deciding on a part of town, my guide to where to live in Nashville measures drives and tax rates from each area, and moving to Nashville covers the move itself. Here's how I work with relocation buyers. For the city as a whole, start with my Nashville guide or the Davidson County guide. Comparing towns south of the city?
